Norman followed Southall back to her office.

'What d'you think?' he asked.

She sighed as she placed the folder on her desk.

'Either he's incredibly confident he's got away with it, or he's telling the truth, and I can't decide which it is.'

'I can't believe he volunteered all that and didn't ask for a lawyer,' said Norman.

'That's what makes me think he's telling the truth,' said Southall. 'Once he got over his nerves, he started to get a bit cocky, but at the same time, he seems too naive to be lying. Find this flatmate and see if he can corroborate his story.'

'They've had ten days to learn it off by heart,' said Norman.

'Yes, maybe they have, but speak to him and see what he says.'

'Okay, I'll see what I can do.'

'I'd better send the others home; I don't want them dead on their feet tomorrow.'
